Pisang Raja Udang Merah / Red Dacca

Pisang Raja Udang has two layers of color, purple and green. Typically, the purple layer is more abundant than the green (only 20%). Each bunch can produce between 8-10 bananas. This banana is of the cavendish (chubby) type. It is used for festive and religious occasions due to unique red peel. This cultivar is one of its kind in the country with red-colored peel and is quite popularly grown in backyards. When ripe, the fruit has a creamy to light pink flesh. This variety contains more beta carotene and vitamin C than yellow bananas. The plant height is between 2.5-3.0 meters. It will take 80-90 days of flowering to harvest. The weight of a bunch is approximately 14-18 kg.
