Bebaru Cina / Mugwort

Artemisia vulgaris is commonly referred to as Common Wormwood in herbal literature. Mugwort is a tall daisy-like herbaceous perennial of the Asterceae (Compositae) family. It has a strong woody root structure and can reach a height of 1.5 metres. The dark grey-green leaves are 5-20cm long, and pinnately lobed. On the underside, they have a silvery grey to white fluff, and the erect stems have a purple hue. The flowers are small and radially symmetrical, with several red to yellow flowers held in panicles or groups off the same stem. They bloom throughout the summer. The unopened flowers are in the shape of a tiny white ball.
