Culantro is used in traditional medicines for fevers, vomiting and diarrhea.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>KNOWN HAZARD:<\/strong> None known<\/p>\n<p><strong>PLANT PARTS USED:<\/strong> Leaves, roots and seeds<\/p>\n<p><strong>EDIBLE USES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Leaves<\/strong> &#8211; Raw or cooked. They can be steamed and served with rice but are more commonly used as a flavoring in foods such as soups, curries, stews and rice dishes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Roots <\/strong>&#8211; The root is used as a flavoring in soups.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Seeds<\/strong> &#8211; Used as a flavoring<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>MEDICINAL USES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>To treat flu, constipation and fever &#8211; <\/strong>Drink culantro tea.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To soothe headache and lower blood pressure &#8211; <\/strong>Drink culantro tea.<\/li>\n<li>The plant is boiled and the water used for herbal bath or as a medication for chicken pox and measles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>OTHER USES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An essential oil can be distilled from the seeds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PLANT CARE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prefers moist, well-drained soil in a sunny position. Culantro also grows well in partial shade.<\/li>\n<li>Feed the plant monthly and well-watered. Do not overwater.<\/li>\n<li>Harvest plants by cutting individual leaves. You can also cut all the leaves on a rosette, but leave the crown in place so it can re-grow.
