Pisang Raja

(Musa x Paradisiaca, group AAB)

Pisang raja is the most popular and superior cooking cultivar, thus the name ‘Raja which means ‘King’. It is also often planted in backyards and small plots. The tree has a high resistance to disease and insect attacks. The plant height is between 2.8-3.0 meters depending on soil fertility and fertilizer and will take 10-11 months of flowering to harvest. The weight of a bunch is approximately 12 -16 kg.
