PLANT DESCRIPTION:
\nAn upright perennial commonly grown as a culinary herb and ground cover. Apple mint has a slight fruity fragrance that some liken to apples and is widely used as medicinal tea which can cure fever, headache and various digestive problems.

\nEDIBLE USES:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Leaves – Leaves can be consumed raw or cooked, as a flavoring in salads or cooked foods. Herbal tea can be made from the leaves.<\/p>\n
MEDICINAL USES:<\/p>\n
\u2022 To cure fever and headache – Leaves of apple mint is dried and powdered. It is then brewed as tea.
\n\u2022 To soothe stomach upset – Drink apple mint tea.
\n\u2022 To eliminate the pain caused by bee sting, wasp stings and other insect bites – Apply crushed leaves on the affected area.<\/p>\n
OTHER USES:
\n\u2022 An essential oil is obtained from the whole plant is used to produce breath fresheners, perfumes, cosmetics, tooth paste, chewing gums, candies and mint chocolates.
\n\u2022 As environment-friendly insecticide.<\/p>\n
PLANT CARE:
\n\u2022 Apple mint should be grown in a rich, moist and well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade.
\n\u2022 Apple mint may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves, without ample sunlight.
\n\u2022 Provide water for early plants and during times of drought.
\n\u2022 Propagated by stem cuttings. Cut about 10cm of mint stem and discard all the leaves. Put 1\/4 of the cut into the pot. Within 1-2 weeks, the mint shoots will begin to germinate.
\n\u2022 If the plant is too thick and dense, split it into several parts and plant in separate pots.
